Sue Eun Chung (정수은) is a Korea-born interdisciplinary artist based in Michigan and an MFA candidate at Cranbrook Academy of Art. Art has been her sanctuary and her language, especially as she moved between countries, shifted languages, and rebuilt a sense of belonging. Working across different materials and site-responsive installation, she makes symbolic objects that carry dual meaning. These creations become surrogates for narratives that hold and reveal emotions of family history and the residue of lived spaces. The journey of exploring obsessive acts of labor leads to precise translations between different languages.
